Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders is real......and so am I!

"My name is Charlie and I despise school.  No matter how hard I try, nothing seems to go right for me.  I am NEVER, EVER going back to school!"

Luckily, Charlie's mom is ready to help with a pair of bright red shoes that help Charlie understand that an invisible disability doesn't make you invisible.   You can be invincible!

This funny and endearing story follows Charlie, a child who lives with an invisible disability, through a typical week.  Charlie faces a variety of frustrating challenges at home and at school that feel overwhelming.   But, with a little help from her mom, Charlie realizes the answers were there all along.  Children who live with an invisible disability will find a kindred spirit in Charlie as they learn to step out of the shadows, find their superpowers, and embrace their invincibility.

This story, written by an SLP and FASD advocate, provides a glimpse into how the many characteristics associated with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, which impacts at least 1 in 20 individuals worldwide, can impact a person and the people around them.

THE RED SHOES ROCK CAMPAIGN seeks to bring attention to the invisible and irreversible neurodevelopmental disability of FASD and encourages people to wear red shoes - just like Charlie!
